Wholly run by volunteers, Blackley is a family friendly club, having close links with various community groups who regularly use the clubhouse throughout the year. The clubhouse was totally refurbished in 2009 at a cost of £60000, half of which was raised by the club.
Community Groups include
  • Elland Riorges Link
  • Steadsfast Association
  • Elland Methodists
Situated within easy reach of the M62 various cricketing groups use the facilities to hold
  • ECB quarterly management meetings
  • ECB training courses
  • Halifax Cricket League Executive meetings
  • Calderdale Cricket Development Group meetings
The club also caters for private functions along with our own fun packed social events.
2015 saw the club erect 130 metres of boundary, ball-stop-netting at the western end of the ground. The project was funded mainly from the profit of the 2014 Tour de France weekend. ‘Le Tour’ passed within touching distance of the ground, an event never to be forgotten!!
In 2005 Blackley became the first club in the Halifax Cricket League, and only the twentieth in Yorkshire to gain "Club Mark' status. ECB Club Mark has been developed by ECB and Sport England to set down criteria a club must work through that will enable them to gain accreditation. Successful accreditation identifies a club as one that takes the welfare of its junior members seriously and wants to provide a junior section that is well organised and is committed to being a safe, effective and child friendly club. This accreditation has to be renewed every three years. Blackley's accreditation was renewed in 2014.
Across the 39 County Cricket Boards in England and Wales there are only 1,400 Focus Clubs. These Focus Clubs are individually selected by County Boards. Within Yorkshire there are 73 Focus Clubs, one of which is Blackley. A Focus Club is in essence a cricket club working in partnership with schools, local community groups and businesses to deliver high quality agreed outcomes in partnership with the ECB and the County Cricket Board (YCB)
